GOMBE — Thousands of Qur'anic scholars and teachers from the 11 local government areas of Gombe State have expressed support for Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and endorsed the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Dr Jamilu Ishaku Gwamna. The gathering was organised by the Coalition of Tsangaya Teachers of Gombe State. The scholars pointed to the construction of modern Tsangaya schools, more than 120 equipped study centres and opportunities for some Almajiri pupils to study abroad. They also cited the enrolment of 1,000 Almajiri pupils in the state health insurance scheme and the creation of an Almajiri Commission. The Chief of Staff, Alhaji Inuwa Kari, who represented the governor, said outstanding promises to the Qur'anic community would be fulfilled before the end of the administration. The Senior Special Adviser on Almajiri and Tsangaya Education, Sayyada Dahiru Bauchi, said 11 mega Tsangaya schools, one in each LGA, had been built under the BESDA programme.
