EKSU's First Financial Markets Diploma Cohort Set to Graduate This Year

ADO-EKITI — The first cohort of students on Ekiti State University's professional diploma in Securities Trading and Financial Markets is set to graduate before the end of 2026. The eight-month programme, known as the EKSU Financial Markets Training Programme (E-FMTP), was approved by the university's Senate on February 25, 2026. It combines classroom teaching with simulated trading and runs from the EKSU trading room, which was set up through the university's Chancellor, Dr Tunji Olowolafe, and funded by the Tunji Olowolafe Foundation. Prof. Oke Michael Ojo of the Department of Finance said the programme aims to bridge the gap between theory and the needs of industry, covering risk management, investment strategy and live trading. Olowolafe said many recent graduates seeking careers in finance lack practical market skills, and urged other Nigerian universities to adopt the model. The foundation's General Manager, Bomo Anthony, said the students had progressed from learning the basics to placing real trades.
