KADUNA — The Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU), Prof. Abdullahi Musa, has described as misleading the claim by the university's ASUU branch that more than 200 lecturers have resigned. He challenged the union to publish the names of the lecturers, the dates of their resignation and the reasons they left. Musa said the state government had released more than N800 million for staff welfare over three years, as well as N146 million for withheld salaries and SIWES arrears. He listed a monthly intervention of N50 million and more than N200 million in overhead funding in 2026. According to him, over N300 million was spent on the accreditation of more than 57 programmes and the verification of 60 postgraduate programmes. Seven professional programmes, including Nursing and Physiotherapy, now have full accreditation. The Vice-Chancellor also cited 14 research centres, two institutes, a N1 billion TETFund agricultural research grant and more than N1.6 billion in state scholarships. He urged the union not to disrupt the academic calendar and to stay away from partisan politics.
