LAGOS — The Initiative for School Excellence and Education Foundation has threatened to take legal action against the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) over the conduct of the 2026 computer-based West African Senior School Certificate Examination. In a letter dated August 14 and signed by Chinwe Onubogu, principal partner of Zuriel Law Practice, the group gave WAEC 14 days to respond or face litigation. The letter was made public on Friday by Alex Onyia. The group asked WAEC to preserve all examination records, including response databases, audit trails, server logs and scoring data, and to give affected candidates access to their electronic records and grade calculations. It also demanded records of any manual changes made to results and an independent review by experts in assessment and information technology. The threat came a day after WAEC issued a statement defending the results against claims of technical glitches.
