ABUJA — The Federal Government has invested N1 billion through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to modernise the curriculum for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). In a statement by his spokesman, Ikharo Attah, the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, said the exercise produced 27 new National Occupational Standards and updated four existing ones, bringing the total to 31. The new standards create a clear pathway from artisan level through the National Certificate, Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma. The minister said the aim is to equip learners with skills that match the needs of industry, improve their chances of employment and encourage entrepreneurship. As part of the reforms, the government engaged KPMG Advisory to assess the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and design a new structure, governance model and operating framework for the board.
