Zulum Meets Parents of Abducted Mussa Pupils, Says Tinubu Has Ordered Rescue

MAIDUGURI — Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has assured parents of pupils abducted from Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Askira-Uba Local Government Area that President Bola Tinubu is committed to securing the release of their children. Zulum hosted the parents in Maiduguri on the 99th day after the abduction of about 44 pupils on May 15, 2026. The leader of the parents, Ishaku Jidai, asked the governor to take their plea directly to the President. He said most of the abducted children are between one and seven years old, and that two of his three children were among those taken. Zulum told the parents he had held meetings with the National Security Adviser, the Director-General of the Department of State Services, the Chief of Army Staff and the Inspector-General of Police over the matter. He said the President had directed security agencies to rescue the children, and promised to deliver the parents' message.
