MAKURDI — Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has announced plans to recruit more teachers for primary and secondary schools across the state. The governor made the announcement on Wednesday during his Thank-You Tour of Buruku and Gboko local government areas. He said his administration had already employed 9,700 primary school teachers and that the new recruitment would help fill remaining staffing gaps and improve learning outcomes. Alia pledged continued investment in human capital development and infrastructure across the state. During the tour, he met traditional rulers, religious leaders and political office holders in the two councils. The governor did not give a figure or timeline for the new round of recruitment. Teacher shortages remain a challenge in many public schools in the state, particularly in rural areas.
