MAKURDI — A 200-level Political Science student of Father Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, formerly Benue State University, is receiving treatment in a private hospital after she was allegedly attacked by her roommate with a boiling mixture. The victim, Rose Adikwu, told Daily Trust that her cousin and co-tenant, Agbo Felicia, a 500-level Chemistry student, boiled water mixed with pepper, salt and seasoning on August 28 after being asked to move out of the room. She said the suspect poured the hot mixture on her and locked her inside the room. Neighbours later came to her rescue. When the newspaper's correspondent visited, the victim was seen with bandages in the hospital. The Benue State Police Command spokesman, DSP Peter Aondongu, confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspect, adding that investigations were ongoing. The President of the Students' Union Government, Akighirga Vitalis, visited the victim in hospital and condemned the attack. He said the union would support sanctions, up to expulsion, if the allegations are proven.
