ABUJA — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expanded President Bola Tinubu's Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential election, bringing in prominent figures from opposition parties. Under the new list, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will coordinate the campaign in Rivers State and the FCT. Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord party will coordinate Osun, while Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will lead the campaign in Anambra. PDP Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo was named an adviser, and Obafemi George will advise on media strategy. Senator Abdulaziz Yari retains his position as Director-General of the council. Adams Oshiomhole was named Deputy Director-General in charge of Mobilization, Femi Gbajabiamila Deputy Director-General for Administration, and David Umahi Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure and Sensitization. Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will serve as Director of Finance, while Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Zacch Adedeji will handle fund-raising. Former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje becomes Director for Stakeholder Mobilization, Dele Alake is the official spokesman, and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma is secretary. All 32 APC governors will coordinate the campaign in their respective states. The council also has 14 advisers, among them Bisi Akande, Segun Osoba, George Akume and Wale Edun. The inclusion of non-members has reportedly caused unease among some APC members, who fear that party loyalists could be pushed aside. Meanwhile, Wike used his monthly media chat in Abuja to say that his coalition in support of Tinubu had come to stay, predicting that the President would win on the first ballot. He also denied working against Governors Hope Uzodimma, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Inuwa Yahaya, and said Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara had not been sidelined.
